Education is not only the greatest good in our society, it also enables people to actively participate in this society and gives them the opportunity to develop their own potential. Educational processes are located in all age and content areas, different contexts and institutions. In particular, the state institutions in the form of kindergartens, schools and universities contribute significantly to the further development of society through an explicit educational mandate. For this reason, it is important to make educational offers diverse so that participation is made possible for the individual. In times of digital transformation in all areas of our society, the concept of education is expanding to include a digital component. It is important to use the potential of digitization. The GEBF 2020 at the University of Potsdam takes up this with its motto:

Shaping education - achieving participation - using digitization

Shaping education. The design of educational offers can be viewed from different perspectives. While from the perspective of the individual it is relevant which prerequisites are necessary in order to design the individual education successfully, the perspective of the actors focuses on which types of educational design support learning processes and which mechanisms are associated with them.

Achieve participation . Although educational processes run very differently against the background of heterogeneous learning communities, educational offers should address the individual potential of learners in order to enable active participation in social processes. A central goal is also to design educational offers in such a way that educational injustices are counteracted.

Use digitization. So that our educational society can continue to develop and meet today's requirements from science, business and society, the potential of digitization must be analyzed and implemented in educational offers. In the ideal case, not only can education be designed using digitization, but participation can also be achieved. The use of digital media and its effect in the various age and content areas, but also in different contexts and institutions, should be examined with a view to educational and participation processes.

Contributions from various disciplines are welcome, such as educational science, psychology, sociology and subject didactics, but also other research fields with educational relevance, which deal with the motto of the conference in an innovative way in terms of content or method.
