Sheet music accommodates a lot of data. When a sighted person reads it, they'll select what facet they're excited about and disrespect the remaining - ie just learn the tune, simply think about the rhythm or just the pitch and so on. This app aims to explain sheet music utilizing verbal descriptions and audio - but permits the knowledge to be filtered for the particular requirements of the musician - which will most likely change as they progress through each phrase.

The aim of this app is to make sheet music and studying interactive. It also goals to be palms free through the use of a pedal (which emulates a USB keyboard) and speech recognition.

This app makes use of a midi file and can play or describe specific a bar(s) or note(s). The person can alter the pace, arpeggiate the chords, add a metronome, split left and proper palms and solo or remove top / bottom notes within a hand.

The music could be described whereas it is being performed - ie the notes are introduced one bar bar before they're performed.

By default it responds to a key press of 'b' - to set off the pedal - or use the on screen buttons. This may be changed from Menu - Show choices.

The display incorporates 3 buttons to simulate pedal presses. The app will wait for speech input after the top button is pressed (pedal 1). there are buttons for long press and double press too. Under these 3 buttons is a check box to regulate which ends up are shown from speech recognition - unchecked = just the primary outcome (shown in blue). Ticked = other results proven too (in green).

The button underneath, labelled Recognise Speech, will await speech enter - but will solely display the results - they will not actually be processed so the music / description won't reply.

The remainder of the screen beneath has a scrollable area which displays the outcomes from speech recognition (in blue and green) along with any description of the music which the app provides (shown in red).

A full record of instructions that speech recognition responds to could be found on - http://www.marchantpeter.co.uk/talking-sheet-music.php

The way during which the app understands outcomes from speech is on no account totally developed - so it will not be very correct.

The cause for publishing this app in a very unfinished state is to show the potential and get suggestions on whether it might be helpful and what direction to take subsequent.
